I'd buy it for stable whole-home coverage. The Deco M5 has been TP-Link's workhorse mesh system for years. It's simple, dependable, and easy to manage through the Deco app. The nodes are compact, and the system creates one network with proper roaming. That's the advantage over any extender.

For a two-story house, a split-level office, or any space where people move between rooms with phones and laptops, mesh earns the extra cost. I've set up the Deco M5 for people who don't want to think about networking. That's often the strongest compliment in this category.

The part that surprised me

For a long time, I believed better hardware would solve most complaints. Then I found a router sitting inside a metal cabinet, a coffee shop with the modem in a storage closet at the back, and a home office where the main router was on the floor behind a desk.
